Ghevra Turn, Neelofar
You see the word “Ghevra” rushing around on buses before you reach Ghevra Mod (Turn). The value of the word “Ghevra”, written on the bus stop is not limited to identifying the place. It will circulate in the city with a velocity as signs and in different voices.
The word, “Ghevra”, gains forces as soon as you enter Ghevra Mod. It can be seen attached to everything you glance at. Ghevra Crossing, Ghevra Station, and on the addresses inscribed on boards, beneath the names of shops.
Ghevra is preparing to be constructed.
A number of shops line the road after Ghevra Station. Each wall is a wall of a shop, and together they create a market. Fresh cement and plaster still peep out on the walls.
The road beyond the market stretches through miles of greenery. Somewhere trees, somewhere fields, somewhere crop ready for harvesting, somewhere freshly planted crop.
After covering a long distance, you reach the MCD [Municipal Corporation of Delhi] office. It triggers a different tune in the rhythm of the road being traveled. It knocks on the mind, gestures towards a door beyond which a beautiful world will appear.
The tar coal road turns into a road of mud and gravel. From here one begins to see at a distance, the birthing in the city, a piece of itself.
