Transaction At The Table

"But this says 'duplicate'."

"But I have a letter signed by Tajdar Babbar."
"Then go to court."

The line inside the school was short. The atmosphere tense. The man at the beginning of the line didn't protest any more. Everyone understood you could convince anyone about the duration you had spent in Nangla Maanchi, except for the officials handing out the parcheez (slips) for relocation from Nangla. The documents alone decided your fate at the table where the MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) officials sat. If you have sufficient proof, you can deposit Rs. 7000 and be assured of a plot of land somewhere in the outskirts of the city.
